Poor-mouthing Obama is outraising Romney by $125m

“President Obama has fooled plenty of people into thinking Mitt Romney is beating him in the race for campaign cash. This allows Obama to pose as a scrappy underdog and man of the people even as he raises and spends more money than his opponent. It’s quite a trick, supported by three money machines:

First, Obama’s campaign has outraised and outspent Romney’s campaign.

Second, the Democratic National Committee outraised and outspent the Republican National Committee.

Third, outside groups explicitly taking Obama’s side — super-PACs, 527s and PACs — have spent more than the outside groups on Romney’s side.

Obama would have everyone believe otherwise. “We’re getting outraised,” Obama wrote in a typical fundraising email this week. This is only true if you concentrate solely on the month of June, when Romney’s $105 million beat Obama’s $71 million.”

Algorithms now “writing” articles for newspapers and websites

New reporter? Call him Al, for algorithm

“The new reporter on the US media scene takes no coffee breaks, churns out articles at lightning speed, and has no pension plan.

That’s because the reporter is not a person, but a computer algorithm, honed to translate raw data such as corporate earnings reports and previews or sports statistics into readable prose.

Algorithms are producing a growing number of articles for newspapers and websites, such as this one produced by Narrative Science:

“Wall Street is high on Wells Fargo, expecting it to report earnings that are up 15.7 percent from a year ago when it reports its second quarter earnings on Friday, July 13, 2012,” said the article on Forbes.com.

While computers cannot parse the subtleties of each story, they can take vast amounts of raw data and turn it into what passes for news, analysts say.The new reporter on the US media scene takes no coffee breaks, churns out articles at lightning speed, and has no pension plan.

19 Warnings About A Coming Global Financial Catastrophe

“Global leaders have tried just about everything that they can think of, but the coming global financial catastrophe continues to march steadily toward us. We have seen “stimulus packages”, quantitative easing, bond buying, interest rate cuts, emergency economic summits, bailout packages for banks, bailout packages for entire nations, “Operation Twist”, unprecedented government intervention in business and massive amounts of new government debt and yet nothing seems to revive the global economy.

In fact, it looks like we are rapidly heading into the second dip of a “double dip recession”.

Unfortunately, many believe that this next dip will be more like a full-blown depression. All over the world, top economic experts are warning that we are facing an unprecedented crisis of debt and insolvency that will result in a global financial catastrophe. The eurozone is drowning in debt, the U.S. government is drowning in debt and major banks all over the globe are drowning in debt. Global authorities have been trying to patch the system together and keep it going, but the incredible damage that all of this debt has done is now becoming apparent to everyone. The global debt bubble that has fueled prosperity in the western world for the last several decades is getting ready to burst, and when that happens the chaos that will result will be absolutely horrifying.”

Wildcrafting: 10 Foods Offered To You By Mother Nature

“Many people rely on their summer gardens to help sustain them during the growing season and then preserve their harvest for the coming months. Some may even go so far as to use that food to prepare for extended emergency situations. These are all good things. But what if you find yourself in a situation where you are not near your garden or for some reason do not have a substantial stash to live on? What if you use up your stored food with little to no food available in the foreseeable future?

It is wise to acquaint yourself with plants that grow in your region. You may find that many are edible and widely available, some require special care to remove toxins but still offer sustenance, and others are best left alone altogether.

Here are ten foods you may find in your area that have a relatively safe reputation. Read up on these and be sure of what you are eating. Don’t let this article be your only source of information on wild edibles. I highly recommend purchasing a book with color photographs to aid you in positively identifying these and other plants.

With any wild edible, it is wise to take only a little for your first and second introduction, preferably on different days, to make sure it agrees with you.”

Five Words For the United Nations: FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS

“While actions at the UN posed a serious threat to our right to bear arms, few acknowledged the legitimacy of the issue and fewer still had even heard anything about it.

The Obama administration is now just a matter of weeks away from joining other foreign powers in the signing of the Arms Trade Treaty at United Nations.

While many will argue that the new treaty will not restrict gun ownership in America, 2nd Amendment proponents disagree and maintain that the new treaty could pave the way for an eventual nationwide gun grab.”

High-Speed Rail in California Brings Agenda 21 Megacities Closer to Reality

“The California Senate has passed a bill by a 21-16 vote that implements the financing for a high-speed rail line across the Central Valley. The new law will require selling $4.5 in bonds to build this railway. They will also receive $3.2 billion in federal government stimulus. The high-speed railway will link to transportation lines.

Senator Joe Simitian said on the Senate floor: “I think high-speed rail makes sense in California … but we’re not being asked to vote on a vision today, we’re being asked to vote on a particular plan. Regrettably, the only conclusion I can come to today is that this is the wrong plan in the wrong place in the wrong time.”

Supporters of the bill claim that it would create jobs and promote public transit to protect the environment.”

Brutal Gestapo Tactics Are Being Used Against Homeowners All Over America

“Property rights are being absolutely shredded all over America. Buying a piece of land and enjoying it with your family has always been a big part of the American Dream. Unfortunately, in the United States today you don’t actually own your own home. If you don’t pay your rent (property taxes) your home will be taken away from you, and you are only allowed to use your property in very narrowly defined ways. The control freaks that run things tell us what we can build on our own property, what we can grow on our own property, what types of gatherings we can have on our own property, how many visitors we can have on our own property and they have imposed very strict rules about how our property must be maintained. If we get “out of line”, they will use “zoning ordinances” and “code violations” to make our lives a living hell. All over America today, brutal Gestapo tactics are being used against homeowners that just want to be left alone. Anyone that has ever dealt with a “compliance officer” or a “nuisance abatement team” knows what I am talking about. But if we have so very little “freedom” on our own properties, then how in the world can we continue to call this country “the land of the free”?”

Scenes Of Despair

“Sometimes it can be easy to forget that behind all of the horrible economic numbers that we hear about are millions of real people that have had their lives absolutely devastated by this economy. Elderly couples are being brutally evicted from their homes, young families are living in their cars, terminally ill people are dying because they cannot afford medication that they need and millions of parents can’t sleep at night as they wrestle with anxiety over not being able to provide for their children. Often those that lose their jobs or their homes discover that people start looking at them very differently and that there is very little compassion out there these days. As you will read about below, one major U.S. bank is even kicking an elderly woman with stage 4 breast cancer out of her home because she cannot make her full mortgage payment each month. When the next major global financial catastrophe happens, we are going to see a whole lot more economic despair. Will society respond to that crisis by becoming warmer and more compassionate, or will the world around us become even more cold and even more cruel? As bad as things are right now, it truly is frightening to think about what the world is going to look like after the next major economic downturn.”
