‘Gang of 8′ senators defeat ‘trigger’ amendment

“A bloc of 12 pro-immigration senators blocked a GOP amendment to freeze the proposed legalization of 11 million illegals until the border is secured, highlighting a fundamental political divide on the first day of voting on the far-reaching Senate immigration bill.

“The bill is … legalization first and enforcement later, and just opposite what the people think they’re getting, and opposite to what many members of Congress think is in the bill before us,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley, the leading Republican on the Senate’s Judiciary Committee.

The defeat, however, gives critics an obvious argument during national debates over the immigration bill. Numerous polls show strong public demand for a secure border with Mexico.”

ICE union head on immigration reform: ‘Zero confidence any promises of future enforcement will be fulfilled’

“The head of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent union says that he has no confidence that the Obama administration would step up its border control efforts as part of any immigration reform agreement.

Chris Crane, ICE officer and National ICE Council president representing 7,000 ICE agents, officers, and employees, expressed concern in a statement issued Friday that the “the immigration bill being crafted behind closed doors” by the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” senators “will be rushed to passage without proper public consideration and proper input from the law enforcement community.””

Did Anyone Really Think the Supercommittee Would Make a Difference?

“The $1.2 billion per year they were supposed to cut was only a drop in the deficit bucket. It would be a tiny bit more difference than, say, a horse urinating in the ocean makes to sea levels. Yet the committee couldn’t even agree on the token amounts. Even as a dog and pony show, this has been a disappointment.

They could have just taken congressman Ron Paul’s advice about military adventurism. They could have wiped out about two-thirds of the deficit right there!

But that’s not politically possible right now. We’re not sure how many Americans, in their heart of hearts, truly believe that we’d be overrun with Islamic fundamentalists if the U.S. government pulled its forces out all the countries it’s currently occupying. But we imagine it’s a lot. Just about every politician aside from Dr. Paul seems to agree”

‘Secret farm bill’ primed for passage in debt deal

“Lawmakers on the House and Senate Agriculture committees are trying to write a new five-year farm bill through the supercommittee process.

The legislators are using the supercommittee to avoid what would be a more public, election-year debate in 2012, when the current farm bill expires and new legislation would be scheduled for writing, according to critics of the effort.

“We call it the secret farm bill,” said one environmental activist, who worries that if the lawmakers succeed, it will prop up U.S. farm payments through 2017. “

Obama and his “Gang of 12″ prepared to commit treason after Labor Day holiday

The World’s Largest Slave Auction

“Immediately after the “Labor Day Holiday” congress will come back to “work” to finish the 52 days that they officially spend each year actually working for their astronomical compensation packages that we pay them; to do what they do? Would it surprise you to know that this time what is ‘first-up’ on their agenda is the ‘seating’ of the new SUPER-CONGRESS?

You’ve probably heard something about it but what you might not know is that by being sworn in and actually seated; these twelve people will be openly committing TREASON against the US Constitution and the people that supposedly elected this congress to their offices? That is a true statement because everything the constitution spells out includes the fact that only the Congress (all of the congress) shall be responsible for all legislation. Bush began this erosion of the rule of law when he introduced his totally illegal third signing-option; wherein he could decide which parts of any legislation he would be bound by and which parts he as Dictator would ignore. That began the illegal-precedent for criminal-violations by the congress as well as the Executive Branches of this government and so far the courts have not challenged these completely unconstitutional actions. “

Goldman, Citigroup Employees Big Givers To Deficit Super Committee

“If money does buy influence, the financial services industry should be in pretty good shape when the 12 members of a new Congressional “Super Committee” start meeting to decide how to trim at least $1.2 trillion from the federal deficit over the next decade.”

“A new analysis by MapLight, a not-for-profit which tracks political money, shows that the Political Action Committees and employees of six public companies— five of them entirely or partly in financial services—rank among the 10 largest organizational givers to the 12 politicians from 2001 through 2010. The five are Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and General Electric.

Employees of Microsoft, the only nonfinancial public company on the top ten list, have given heavily to Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), who will be the Democratic co-chair of the panel, formally known as the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.”

Rep. James Clyburn (S.C.) to use seat on “super congress” to push for wealth redistribution

Clyburn hopes to use supercommittee post to tackle growing wealth gap
“A leading House Democrat is hoping to use his prestigious seat on the deficit-cutting supercommittee to close the growing gully that divides the rich and the poor in America.

Rep. James Clyburn (S.C.) said the recent debate over slashing spending and reducing deficits has all but ignored the toll those cuts could exact on lower income folks, particularly in minority communities. Clyburn – the third-ranking House Democrat and a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) – is vowing to use his perch on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to tackle the nation’s enormous wealth gap. “

Ron Paul: ‘Super Congress’ a “Monstrous Creature”

“Congressman Ron Paul re-emphasized his opposition to the new Super Congress that has been created by the debt deal during an appearance on Lou Dobbs’ Fox Business show last night, labeling the committee a “monstrous creature” that will be used by the Obama administration to advance its regulatory agenda.”

The Debt Ceiling Deal From Hell

“Is the debt ceiling deal supposed to be some sort of a cruel joke? Is this what the American people have been waiting months and months for? The “debt ceiling deal from hell” is a complete and total fraud. Barack Obama will not need to worry about the debt ceiling again until after the 2012 election, and no “real” spending cuts will happen until after the 2012 election. The way the political game in Washington D.C. is played today, if you don’t get something right now, you probably will never end up getting it. The Republicans have traded a massive debt ceiling increase right now for the possibility of very skimpy budget cuts in the future. Meanwhile, this deal establishes a new “Super Congress” that threatens to fundamentally alter our political system (and not in a good way). The funny thing is that everyone is running around proclaiming that the Tea Party won this battle. That is a complete and total lie.”

Shock merger: Democrats, GOP to join in creating new ‘super party’

“The leaders of the nation’s two dominant political parties announced this morning that they’ve reached a definitive agreement to merge into one super-party in time for the 2012 elections.

Although terms of the deal were not announced, insiders who declined to be identified say that a new corporation will be established to acquire the assets of both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. It’s expected that the newly combined party will have a market value of roughly $7.8 trillion, according to an economist at the Federal Reserve.

“The more we talked about it during the debt negotiations, the more obvious it was to all of us that we needed to consolidate our operations,” said a clearly jubilant Barack Obama, who will serve as president of the newly merged party. “We realized that we’re both working for the same things, so there was no sense in us opposing one another and duplicating our efforts.””
