Congress Goes Bipartisan – Against Civil Liberties
“Civil liberties are theoretically a bipartisan concern. Conservative Republicans who don’t like Obamacare’s “death panels” should be outraged by presidential kill lists. Liberal Democrats who defend due process ought to be offended by secret surveillance law. Protectors of the First and Second Amendments should have a high regard for the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth.
Yet restricting civil liberties is what actually commands bipartisan support in Washington. The same Congress that barely averted the fiscal cliff swiftly passed extensions of warrantless wiretapping and indefinite detention, assuring Americans that only the bad guys will be affected but evincing little interest in establishing whether this is really the case.
The same Congress that failed to come up with an agreement to avoid sequestration appears to have bipartisan majorities in favor of profligate drone use at home and abroad. Lawmakers are generally less exercised about the confirmation of likely CIA chief John Brennan than Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.”

Canadians Discover That The U.S. Is Now A Police State
“Totalitarian systems use the process of escalation in order to subdue non-compliant persons, as, unfortunately, this Canadian couple quickly discovered. The brainless thugs placed in positions of petty authority bully their way towards a particular response; full submission, or anger, which can then be used as an excuse to generate physical confrontation and imprisonment. The bottom line is that the officers involved in this event on the American border CREATED the conflict out of thin air. Later, obviously, such men try to justify their actions by claiming it was all for “the good of the state”. This is a lie. They do it because they enjoy asserting the power they have been given by the state, and become incredulous when anyone questions the legitimacy of that power. The establishment’s goal, through their brownshirt brigades, is to condition the public to conform without thought at all times regardless of the lack of logic inherent in the situation, as well as to send a clear message: you are a second or third-class citizen whose personal rights are not important or respected – the government does not serve you, you serve the government…”

Feds’ warrantless surveillance targeted more people in past two years than entire previous decade
“Disturbing new documents from the United States Department of Justice reveal that federal agents are increasingly being given real-time access to the social networking accounts and e-mails of Americans without having to obtain a search warrant.
Unfortunately, this is hardly surprising given that the Obama administration has fought to maintain their warrantless wiretapping powers and similarly declared that cellphone location data is not constitutionally protected.
Given that former employees of the National Security Agency (NSA) have exposed the massive illegal surveillance program going on in our nation, is it really all that surprising to learn of this type of widespread real-time surveillance? I think not.
That being said, the dramatic rise in the numbers is hardly easy to brush aside.
The reports made available by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) were only handed over by the government after the ACLU was forced to sue the Department of Justice and enter into months of litigation.”

19 Signs That America Is Being Systematically Transformed Into A Giant Surveillance Grid
“You are being watched. The control freaks that hold power in the United States have become absolutely obsessed with surveillance. They are constantly attempting to convince the American people that we are all “safer” when virtually everything that we do is watched, monitored, tracked and recorded. Our country is being systematically transformed into a giant surveillance grid far more comprehensive than anything George Orwell ever dreamed of. If you still believe that there is such a thing as “privacy” in this day and age, you are being delusional. Every single piece of electronic communication is monitored and stored. In fact, they know that you are reading this article right now. But even if you got rid of all of your electronic devices, you would still be constantly monitored. As you will read about below, a rapidly growing nationwide network of facial recognition cameras, “pre-crime” surveillance devices, voice recorders, mobile backscatter vans, aerial drones and automated license plate readers are constantly feeding data about us back to the government. In addition, private companies involved in “data mining” are gathering literally trillions upon trillions of data points about individual Americans each year. So there is no escape from this surveillance grid. In fact, it has become just about impossible to keep it from growing. The surveillance grid is expanding in thousands of different ways, so even if you stopped one form of surveillance you would hardly make a dent in the astounding growth of this system. What we desperately need is a fundamental cultural awakening to the importance of liberty, freedom and privacy. Without such an awakening, the United States (along with the rest of the planet) is going to head into a world that will make “1984″ by George Orwell look like a cheery story about a Sunday picnic.”
DHS Prepares for Civil Unrest as Destruction of 2nd Amendment Looms
“Surveillance drones have a new mission. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) they will be used for “public safety”. Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the DHS, told a House Committee meeting on Homeland Security that the more than 30,000 drones that will be deployed into American skies are just arbitrarily watching out for US citizens.
Napolitano stated:”
With respect to Science and Technology, that directorate, we do have a funded project, I think it’s in California, looking at drones that could be utilized to give us situational awareness in a large public safety [matter] or disaster, such as a forest fire, and how they could give us better information.

Tracking You and Your Family Just Got a Whole Lot Easier
“It’s been hailed as the ultimate in personal identification and human tracking technology, and now it’s going mainstream. The VeriMed system, formerly known as the Verichip, is a passive RFID microchip measuring about the size of a grain of rice and is implantable under your skin, making it possible for health care providers and other parties to instantly access your medical history and other personally identifying information.
The chip itself doesn’t store a whole lot of information other than a personal identification number, much like a social security number. When scanned it connects directly to the Healthlink global network via the internet allowing doctors immediate retrieval of everything they need to know about you.
The systems are not only limited to human medical data storage, however, and have been used for years as location tracking for cattle and pets by Verichip’s former parent company Applied Digital Solutions.”
“Ends Justify the Means” As Cops Illegally Handcuff 40 Innocent Bystanders
“Police detained and handcuffed forty innocent bystanders after a bank robbery in Aurora, Colorado, on June 4. Nearly two dozen cars were stopped near a Wells Fargo Bank and the occupants held without probable cause as police searched for a suspect.
Police Chief Daniel Oates demonstrated his ignorance of the Fourth Amendment when he told CBS in Denver “the ends justify the means” after the illegal round-up snared a suspect. He described the mass detainment and handcuffing as lawful and necessary.
“The law is clear that investigative detentions are lawful for a reasonable period of time,” Oates said. “Reasonableness is determined by the facts and circumstances at issue, and the facts and circumstances were the suspect was in one of 19 cars.””

1984 on American Streets
Talking surveillance cameras that bark orders at passers-by and can also record conversations are heading for U.S. streets, with manufacturer Illuminating Concepts announcing the progress of its ‘Intellistreets’ system.
As we first reported last year, high tech street lights with “homeland security applications” are now being installed in major U.S. cities.
The street lights also have loudspeakers that can give audible warnings to individuals, mimicking the talking surveillance cameras in the UK that shout out orders through microphones telling people to pick up litter or leave the area.
A recent press release put out by Amerlux announces the company’s partnership with Illuminating Concepts to further advance the rollout of ‘Intellistreets’. The announcement confirms that the street lights will have a number of “homeland security features” including a loudspeaker system that will be used to “engage captive audiences”.

America: A Government Out of Control
TSA continues to expand operations outside of airports with VIPR teams
“Through so-called VIPR teams, meaning Visual Intermodal Protection and Response, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a child agency of the behemoth Department of Homeland Security (DHS), continues to expand beyond the confines of airports.
In my view, the DHS is just about one of the least trustworthy government agencies we are subjected to. After all, they have been busted lying bald-faced to Congress about their activities, while the TSA has also helped cover up the danger of the so-called naked body scanners.
Indeed, recently in Alton, Illinois, yet another instance of TSA goons operating outside of their traditional jurisdiction presented itself.
This is being done under the guise of fighting terrorism, the same justification we are fed in an attempt to explain why our government can assassinate us without charge or trial, hold us in military detention indefinitely without any due process whatsoever, prevent us from exercising our right to free speech and so much more.”
