“Some might not consider it that big a deal, but one California city is planning to raise a Chinese flag over their city as a symbol of honor and openness to Chinese people and businesses living in their community.”
Despite the objections of residents and human rights groups, the city council of San Leandro, Calif., decided in a 4-3 vote to fly the flag over its city hall Oct. 1 to honor “the formation of the sovereign state in 1949 by communist leader Mao Zedong…
“Raising the flag gives us the opportunity to show the openness to the people of China, the business people of China, to show that we welcome that investment and we welcome the prosperity,” [Councilman Benny] Lee said, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Moonbat Crooner Tony Bennett: Obama Is The “Greatest Accomplishment” In American History…
“PIERS MORGAN: In the ’60s, you became involved in the American Civil Rights Movement. You participated in the ’68 Selma to Montgomery marches. Did you think then when Martin Luther King was assassinated, did you think in your lifetime, you would see a black President in America?
TONY BENNETT: I think it’s the greatest accomplishment that the United States ever came up with. I think it’s magnificent because he’s not only an African-American, but he’s, you know, I’ve always respected intellectual people, and he’s an intellect.”
Martin Bashir Attacks Sarah Palin During Steve Jobs Eulogy: ‘The Very Worst Form of American Opportunism’
“What kind of a person mixes his admiration for a dead man with his contempt for another human being that had absolutely no connection to one another?
Exactly what has Palin done to folks like Bashir to make them completely lose all sense of decency and morality when her name comes up?
He claimed that over the last three years Palin’s created nothing. But her first book “Going Rogue” was number one on the New York Times best seller list for six weeks eventually selling over two million copies. Her second, “America By Heart,” hit number two on that list eventually selling about one million copies.”

“In Hollywood, they deplore censorship. Yet they embrace tyrants such as Hugo Chavez who use their power to censor opposition voices. They sneer at Wall Street even as they fall all over themselves running to see how many millions their movies have grossed. They think Obamacare works nicely for poor people in the “flyover states,” yet they would never accept anything but the top doctors for themselves.
They think socialism is a novelty — a nicety whose time has come. Yet how odd to imagine their lot under a Chavez or a Castro or a Stalin. Just picture the collapse of Hollywood’s playground — the redistribution of their wealth, the despotic squelching of their free speech, the strangling of their rights and riches.
They would howl like lone wolves do in Westerns. They would beg like Scarlett O’Hara. They would scream like the Wicked Witch of the West. But instead of screaming, “I’m melting! I’m melting!”, they would scream, “Not me! Not me!”"
“The Senate will vote today on a House-passed continuing resolution that A) funds the government through Nov. 18, and B) allocates $3.65 billion to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for disaster relief. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) dislikes the bill because Democrats wanted nearly $7 billion for disaster relief, and the House bill offsets $1.1 billion of the $3.65 billion with spending cuts that Reid has described as “job-killing.”
“We should not have to kill jobs to provide disaster relief to people in need,” he told reporters last week. That’s interesting, given that Reid has in the past supported cuts to the very same programs targeted for offsets in the House bill.”

Alec Baldwin Goes Nuts on Twitter After Davis Execution: Attacks Cheney, Rumsfeld and Michelle Malkin
“Like many Americans, actor Alec Baldwin took to his Twitter account Wednesday evening to express his feelings about the execution of Georgia cop killer Troy Davis.
Rather strangely, the objects of his derision included former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and conservative author Michelle Malkin:”

“The New York Times transcript has the following quote:
“We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union. Founder of the Republican Party. But in the middle of a civil war, he was also a leader who looked to the future — a Republican President who mobilized government to build the Transcontinental Railroad — (applause) — launch the National Academy of Sciences, set up the first land grant colleges. (Applause.) And leaders of both parties have followed the example he set.”
But how does it appear in the PBS transcript?
“We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union. But in the middle of a Civil War, he was also a leader who looked to the future – a Republican president who mobilized government to build the transcontinental railroad; launch the National Academy of Sciences; and set up the first land grant colleges. And leaders of both parties have followed the example he set.”"

Reid pulls douchetastic move to force Senate Republicans to stay in DC for the teleprompter’s speech
Reid Rains on Vitter’s Saints Party
“Several Senate and House Republicans are planning to skip President Obama’s address tonight to a joint session of Congress, in part because they believe he will be showing them nothing new when he unveils his big job creation proposal.
But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has found a way to keep those pesky Republicans in the building, or at least in his chamber.
Reid on Thursday scheduled a vote for after Obama’s speech, and it’s not one many in the GOP will want to miss. As soon as Obama is done talking, the Senate will proceed to a measure to disapprove a $500 billion increase in the debt limit.
Reid’s move means that Sen. David Vitter, R-La., has to skip the party he was planning back home to celebrate the opening night of the NFL season”
The Reagan Library/MSNBC/Politico debate
“Brian Williams, whom I haven’t watched much in recent years, seems to have been drinking liberally of the MSNBC kool-aid; many of his questions were so steeped in liberal distaste for Republican positions that it was embarrassing.”

“So much for dialing back the rhetoric, right?
On Saturday in Inglewood, Calif., Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters had some harsh words for the tea party.
“I’m not afraid of anybody,” the California congresswoman told constituents in footage that appeared on ABC affiliate KABC in Los Angeles, not backing down from comments made about President Obama earlier in the week. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.””
“That proclamation was met with cheers from the audience, including attendees adorning purple SEIU T-shirts.”
