Living amid Hollywood hypocrisy
“In Hollywood, they deplore censorship. Yet they embrace tyrants such as Hugo Chavez who use their power to censor opposition voices. They sneer at Wall Street even as they fall all over themselves running to see how many millions their movies have grossed. They think Obamacare works nicely for poor people in the “flyover states,” yet they would never accept anything but the top doctors for themselves.
They think socialism is a novelty — a nicety whose time has come. Yet how odd to imagine their lot under a Chavez or a Castro or a Stalin. Just picture the collapse of Hollywood’s playground — the redistribution of their wealth, the despotic squelching of their free speech, the strangling of their rights and riches.
They would howl like lone wolves do in Westerns. They would beg like Scarlett O’Hara. They would scream like the Wicked Witch of the West. But instead of screaming, “I’m melting! I’m melting!”, they would scream, “Not me! Not me!”"

“The Senate will vote today on a House-passed continuing resolution that A) funds the government through Nov. 18, and B) allocates $3.65 billion to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for disaster relief. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) dislikes the bill because Democrats wanted nearly $7 billion for disaster relief, and the House bill offsets $1.1 billion of the $3.65 billion with spending cuts that Reid has described as “job-killing.”
“We should not have to kill jobs to provide disaster relief to people in need,” he told reporters last week. That’s interesting, given that Reid has in the past supported cuts to the very same programs targeted for offsets in the House bill.”

“Several Senate and House Republicans are planning to skip President Obama’s address tonight to a joint session of Congress, in part because they believe he will be showing them nothing new when he unveils his big job creation proposal.
But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has found a way to keep those pesky Republicans in the building, or at least in his chamber.
Reid on Thursday scheduled a vote for after Obama’s speech, and it’s not one many in the GOP will want to miss. As soon as Obama is done talking, the Senate will proceed to a measure to disapprove a $500 billion increase in the debt limit.
Reid’s move means that Sen. David Vitter, R-La., has to skip the party he was planning back home to celebrate the opening night of the NFL season”

You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.””

“That’s the single biggest thing that the president could do with Congress, is open up the borders to those that will create jobs here.”
He told CBS that immigrants “don’t take away jobs” but rather they create jobs for people already living in the United States.”
