Is This How Liberty Dies?

“On Thursday, December 15 – the 220th anniversary of the Bill of Rights – Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which can be used by the President to indefinitely detain Americans without charge or trial; an utter eradication of the Fifth Amendment, without apology. Our Congress decided the President needs more power at the expense of the people and the Constitution.

Is this what our veterans and our forefathers fought and gave their lives for? Is this what Americans want their Congress to do? Place power like this in the hands of one man – the President – to do as he wishes with American citizens?

The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution recognizes your right to due process: “No person shall… be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” The Fourth Amendment, for what it’s worth, also recognizes that your right to be secure in your person and in your house (among other things) cannot be infringed by sidestepping the legal process. The explicit recognition of these rights by our government is one of the things that has always made our country exceptional. But this new law is a misguided attack on our country’s 220-year recognition of these inherent rights.

Let us look at the final text of the bill. In “Subtitle D–Detainee Matters”, Sec. 1031, “Congress affirms that the authority of the President…includes the authority…to detain…any person…who was a part of or substantially supported…enemy forces.” The keyword here is “substantially supported.” This designation is extrajudicial – that is, at the President’s discretion. Sec. 1032 says, “The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.” The keyword here is “requirement.” In other words, the President has the authority to indefinitely detain any person who “substantially supported” the enemy, and is in fact required to do so – unless it is a U.S. citizen, in which case it is at the President’s discretion.”

First Amendment Under Attack: 18 Examples Of How They Are Coming For Our Free Speech

“In the United States today, the First Amendment is under attack like never before. Technological innovations such as the Internet have made it possible for average Americans to communicate directly with one another in ways that completely bypass the mainstream media, and this is making the elite very uncomfortable. They have decided that they better come after our free speech before it is too late. Right now, free speech in America is being chipped away at it in thousands of different ways. On the one hand, you have the disciples of “political correctness” that want to make all forms of speech that are “offensive” to anyone against the law. On the other hand, you have those that are obsessed with “national security” that want to ban all speech that is critical of the U.S. government or the U.S. military. These twin forces are constantly seeking to push the First Amendment into a smaller and smaller box. If you say the wrong thing in America today, your website might be shut down, you could be suspended from school, you may find yourself out of a job and there is now even a possibility that you could be arrested and shipped off to Guantanamo Bay without a trial.”

Do You Love Commerce?

“The holiday season is a marvelous opportunity for the commercial sector of life to shine. It makes possible our gift giving, decorations, parties, meals and just about everything else we associate with our traditions. For this reason, it is hard to take seriously the complaints about how the holidays have been commercialized. Without commerce, the season would barely be recognizable to us.

But do we show commerce the love it deserves? Not really. We take it all for granted, as if it were a fixed part of the universe and invulnerable to attack. This is most obvious when you see people who are downright nasty to store clerks and stores. True, it’s their right: A feature of the market is that you don’t have to trade with anyone in particular, much less be nice to them. Part of the job description of working in a retail environment is to put up with difficult customers. And there are plenty.”

The Military Co-Option Of Media And Entertainment

“The collusion between Hollywood, the MSM, and the military industrial complex, has been ongoing since the days of William Randolph Hearst, but in the past decade it has taken on an Orwellian tone that is at once startling and absurd. Many people trust TV, mainly because most people feel that “seeing is believing”. The problem is that with television, even news media, what you see is NOT reality. It is a fantasy world built upon selective editing and pre-scripted responses and events. The militarization of entertainment and journalism in the U.S. is no accident. The Pentagon makes it their business to ensure that the public is philosophically and politically conditioned to support DOD initiatives. They want us to cheer them as heroes, even if their actions are far from heroic. The militarization of any nation leads ultimately to disaster. Death can never be adopted as the theme of a society, or it too will also die.”

Debt-Free United States Notes Were Once Issued Under JFK And The U.S. Government Still Has The Power To Issue Debt-Free Money

“Most Americans have no idea that the U.S. government once issued debt-free money directly into circulation. America once thrived under a debt-free monetary system, and we can do it again. The truth is that the United States is a sovereign nation and it does not need to borrow money from anyone. Back in the days of JFK, Federal Reserve Notes were not the only currency in circulation. Under JFK (at at various other times), a limited number of debt-free United States Notes were issued by the U.S. Treasury and spent by the U.S. government without any new debt being created. In fact, each bill said “United States Note” right at the top. Unfortunately, United States Notes are not being issued today. If you stop right now and pull a dollar out of your wallet, what does it say right at the top? It says “Federal Reserve Note”. Normally, the way our current system works is that whenever more Federal Reserve Notes are created more debt is also created. This debt-based monetary system is systematically destroying the wealth of this nation. But it does not have to be this way. The truth is that the U.S. government still has the power under the U.S. Constitution to issue debt-free money, and we need to educate the American people about this.”

Stocking Up For Doomsday: It’s Not Just For “Crazies” Anymore

“Before the economic crisis of 2008 there were few who considered the possibility of The End of The World As We Know It (TEOTWAWKI). We were aware of the threats posed by natural disasters – Tsunamis in Asia, earthquakes along the western Americas, and hurricanes in the Gulf. But the notion that the very system in which we live is susceptible to a man-made shock so powerful that it could wipe out the very infrastructure that keeps us alive was an outlier so far removed from our daily reality that it was reserved for Hollywood scripts and obscure conspiracy web sites.

But the possibility of a system collapse so severe that it could cripple our and monetary systems, food distribution networks, and emergency response services is now becoming a real concern for people all over the world.”

The militarization of local law enforcement

“The militarization of our local law enforcement agencies now that Homeland Security is running the show, has many communities and individuals sounding the alarm over the escalating violence issuing from these agencies as former public servants have been transformed into public threats. As public unrest spreads across not only the US but also the globe, the ramping up of military weapons to be used by law enforcement against their own communities, continues to become ever more lethal and is provided routinely for use on protestors and other public gatherings.”

Russia oil spills wreak devastation

“On the bright yellow tundra outside this oil town near the Arctic Circle, a pitch-black pool of crude stretches toward the horizon. The source: a decommissioned well whose rusty screws ooze with oil, viscous like jam.

This is the face of Russia’s oil country, a sprawling, inhospitable zone that experts say represents the world’s worst ecological oil catastrophe.

Environmentalists estimate at least 1 percent of Russia’s annual oil production, or 5 million tons, is spilled every year. That is equivalent to one Deepwater Horizon-scale leak about every two months. Crumbling infrastructure and a harsh climate combine to spell disaster in the world’s largest oil producer, responsible for 13 percent of global output. “

Advancement of the North American Union

“With our southern border with Mexico, now a virtual war zone and as the beheadings, murders, drug trafficking, human trafficking and overall violence escalates each day, the federal government has come up with a sure-fire plan on how to gain control of the situation. They have moved ahead with the plans to integrate Canadian and US police to be used for border security, intelligence sharing, and of course your basic over the top government spying on absolutely everyone at, on or around the US- Canadian border. Referred to as the expanded Homeland Security Perimeter, the North American Union is being putting in to place.”
