Europe’s Voters Say “No” to Economic Reality

““Europe fights back against austerity” was how The Daily Telegraph headlined its weekend election coverage. “Anti-austerity movements are gathering pace across Europe following political earthquakes in France and Greece. A total of 12 European governments have now been dismissed in three years.”

As the European welfare state is officially in its death-throes none of us should be surprised if political strife gets cranked up to eleven. I firmly expect that we will see much more of this in the future. While I can understand the anger of the electorate and sympathize with the sense of desperation and foreboding, I cannot, however, consider the electoral choices of the weekend particularly enlightened. They do not reflect a coherent, let alone intelligent strategy as the Daily Telegraph headline seems to imply.

If those who ‘won’ the election deliver on their promises, economic disintegration will only accelerate. What is being offered in terms of ‘solutions’ is a dangerous assortment of economic poisons, more suitable to describe the European disease than provide a recipe for stronger growth.”

Video May Back Claims Bronx Teen’s Arrest Was Unfounded

“How did 19-year-old Jateik Reed end up bloody and handcuffed on a Bronx street? His lawyer says it was a classic case of illegal Stop-and-Frisk gone terribly wrong.

“Even if you don’t have 20/20 vision. Even if you have some substantial clarity, you can see quite clear there was nothing, there were no bags in Jateik Reed’s hands,” said Reed’s attorney, Michael Warren.

Officers swore they witnessed bags of crack and marijuana being carried by Reed. In the criminal complaint one officer is quoted as saying, “He observed the defendant to have on his person, in his hand, one (1) clear plastic bag containing a white, rock-like substance, which he threw to the ground. In his hand, two (2) clear plastic bags, each containing a dried green leafy substance with a distinctive odor, in public view.”

Surveillance video from a nearby building shows Reed walking with his hands out, no drugs in view. John Eterno, a retired New York City Police Department captain, says it appears Reed shouldn’t have been stopped.”

A Chinese Group Plans To Construct A 200 Acre “China City” In Michigan

“A Chinese group known as “Sino-Michigan Properties LLC” has bought up 200 acres of land near the town of Milan, Michigan. Their plan is to construct a “China City” with artificial lakes, a Chinese cultural center and hundreds of housing units for Chinese citizens. Essentially, it would be a little slice of communist China dropped right into the heartland of America. This “China City” would be located about 40 minutes from both Detroit and Toledo, and it would be marketed to Chinese business people that want to start businesses in the United States. Unfortunately, this is not just an isolated incident. In fact, Chinese companies have been buying up land and businesses all over the country in recent years. There has even been talk of establishing “special economic zones” inside the United States modeled after the Chinese city of Shenzhen. It was inevitable that the Chinese were going to do something with the trillions of dollars that they have made flooding our shores with cheap products. Now they are rapidly buying up pieces of America, and many of our politicians are welcoming them with open arms.”

Is The Food We Eat Killing Us?

“Are we digging our own graves with our teeth? Is the food that we eat every day slowly killing us? When I was growing up, I just assumed that everything in the grocery store was perfectly safe and perfectly healthy. I just assumed that the government and the big corporations were watching out for us and that they would never allow something harmful to be sold in the stores. Boy, was I wrong! Today, the average American diet is extremely unhealthy. Most of the foods that we all love to eat are absolutely packed with things that will damage our health. Many of the ingredients that make our foods “taste good” such as fat, salt and sugar can be extremely damaging in large amounts. On top of that, most processed foods are absolutely loaded with chemicals and preservatives. The next time you go to the grocery store, just start turning over packages and read the “ingredients” that are being put into our food. If you have never done this before, you will be absolutely amazed. In many of our most common foods there are “ingredients” that I cannot even pronounce. Sadly, most Americans have no idea that eating a steady diet of these processed foods will likely leave them massively overweight, very sick and much closer to death.”

Co-host of Obama Hollywood fundraiser under SEC investigation

“President Obama’s record $15 million fundraiser tonight at the home of actor George Clooney is being co-hosted by DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. In addition to being the largest single donor to the pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA at $2 million, Katzenberg’s company is currently under investigation by the SEC for allegedly bribing Chinese officials.

The SEC investigation comes just weeks after Katzenberg announced this February that DreamWorks had struck a $2 billion deal to open a studio in Shanghai under the Oriental Dreamworks brand. The China deal was inked in a ceremony that featured Katzenberg alongside Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, who stopped off in Los Angeles in February on his way back to China after a series of high-level meetings at the White House, including meetings with Obama.

Katzenberg joined Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Chinese vice president for a meeting that led to the DreamWorks deal. In an interview with the Financial Times, Katzenberg said the deal required Xi’s personal approval in order to move forward.”

Drones ok for the rest of us but not over the district of criminals

Chief: Drones good for Fairfax, not for D.C.

“Drones in the skies over Northern Virginia makes sense, though they likely won’t be monitoring the District in the near future, says the D.C. chief of police, also a homeland security expert.

Chief Cathy Lanier, who founded the department’s first Homeland Security/Counter-Terrorism Branch, has been following the use of drones since they were first implemented over American soil in Arizona to help monitor the U.S.-Mexican border.

“There are a lot of different uses for it,” Lanier told WTOP while speaking on “Ask the Chief.” She doesn’t have any plans to purchase drones for D.C. use at this time, saying they wouldn’t be useful.

“I think it’s entirely different for a sprawling county like Fairfax,” she says. “

Marc Faber: “Bureaucrats in Brussels make US government look like an organization of geniuses”, says Markets Will Crash like 1987 Without QE3

“The quote of the day goes to Marc Faber, publisher of the Gloom, Boom & Doom report. Faber says “I do not have a high opinion of the U.S. government, but the bureaucrats in Brussels make the government in the U.S. look like an organization consisting of geniuses.”

Marc Faber spoke with Bloomberg TV’s Betty Liu also stated “The market will have difficulties to move up strongly unless we have a massive QE3 and if it moves and makes the high above 1422, the second half of the year could witness a crash, like in 1987.””

FCC takes calls to pull Fox’s broadcast licenses ‘very seriously’

“Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski testified Wednesday that his agency takes calls to cancel Fox’s broadcast licenses “very seriously.”

Groups, including Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), have urged the FCC to pull Fox’s licenses because of evidence that its parent company News Corp. hacked people’s phones in the United Kingdom to get stories.”

The University of Minnesota-Duluth creates “gender neutral” restrooms after leftist moonbat says gender specific restrooms are “oppressive”

University Creates Gender-Neutral Bathrooms After Alleged Black Panther Supporter Goes on Hunger Strike to Demand Them

“Gender-neutral bathrooms have become a priority at The University of Minnesota-Duluth in Duluth, Minnesota, after student Blair Moses reportedly began a hunger strike. His goal? To convince the school’s administration that they are of paramount necessity. Moses allegedly stated that gender-specific bathrooms are “oppressive” and problematic, thus he took some curious avenues to ensure that more flexible facilities would be installed.

Last month, the student reportedly sent a letter to the school stating that if his demands were not met for more equitable lavatories by April 26, he would begin a three-week hunger strike. According to CampusReform.org’s Oliver Darcy, Moses insisted in his note that the university “take immediate action to begin the process of designating more gender neutral bathrooms.” He also maintained that officials needed to announce the change once it was implemented.”
